Portraits of family, friends and loved ones make wonderful gifts that will be treasured for a lifetime.  Commemorate a special birthday, anniversary, wedding or other special occasion with a truly unique memory that will be passed down from generation to generation. Capturing the essence of my subject -- revealing the soul that lies behind the mystery of the human eye -- is my goal and my inspiration.

An original artist’s portrait makes a thoughtful and timeless gift.   It is not necessary for you to pose for hours in a studio when a favorite photo or photos can be used as references for your portrait.  Photographss should be clear and sharp.  Natural light is preferred as a flash tends to wash out skin tones and shadows which are so important in capturing a likeness.   If you are unsure of a photograph’s suitability for use as a portrait reference, you may email it to Sharon at Sharonsart  for a free evaluation.

The gift of an original artist portrait is a wonderful way to commemorate many of life’s most important occasions:  Weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, graduations, newborns, pets, and memorial portraits are just a few of many possibilities.

Sharonsart portraits are available in color as well as all classic monochrome shades:

Sanguine is a reddish brown, very similar to sienna.  Used on traditional cream or white paper it creates a warm, luminous effect.  Sanguine was a great favorite of Leonardo da Vinci, who used the medium in preliminary drawings for the Last Supper.

Sepia is an old world brown much like tones in early photographs.  Sepia tones are a good choice for imparting a vintage, antique feeling to your portrait.

Graphite is a traditional and classic medium in portraiture.  Subtle and soft, it is amazingly lifelike and unmatched in capturing fine detail and conveying depth and realism.

I use only the finest archival art paper by Canson, Strathmore and Stonehenge and a variety of fine art drawing crayon,  pencil and pastel including Conte, Faber-Castell, Derwent and Prismacolor and Caran d’Ache.
